Kalangan is an organization that works for children’s cultural, social, educational, and psychological development, principally through music . On account of Kalagan’s 18th anniversary, we bring to you Kalangan Jallosh, 2017. Kalangan has events for children throughout the year, of which a big and important one is the Limbu-Timbu competition conducted across the state of Maharashtra. The winners of this competition are rewarded with a recorded song of their own. ‘Kachchalimbu’ is a compilation of all these songs, which will be released at Kalangan Jallosh in the form of a CD. In the last 18 years, Kalangan has released several albums with around 200 new children’s songs written by some of the most notable Hindi and Marathi poets. All of these songs have been composed by Varsha Bhave, director of Kalangan, and a musician herself. Kalangan Jallosh will also see the release of the Kalangan mobile application, which will make available to everyone, these 200-odd songs. At the event, Kalangan will also present tokens of gratitude to loving supporters of Kalangan through the years. Satyajit Prabhu and Aditya Oak are two names that conjure up an image of Zee Sa Re Ga Ma Pa coupled with numerous national and international tours, and of course, the harmonium and the synthesiser. Having trained under Shree Anil Kerkar, Pandit Govindrao Patwardhan and Dr Vidyadhar Oak, the two are among the finest artistes today. They entertain and experiment, playing everything from Hindustani Classical ragas and natya sangeet to new popular songs. Their harmonium and synth have the power to mesmerize the audience and captivate their attention with a natya geet like Surat Piya Ki, or a fun song like Ajay-Atul’s Jhingaat.
